What do we do when we worship?

Each week at our principal service, we begin our worship with “the Worship of the Word”. We read a passage from the Old Testament, one from the New Testament, a Psalm and, of course, the Gospel lesson of the day. Following the readings a sermon is presented.

Central to our weekly practice at St. John’s is the “Holy Eucharist”, sometimes called “communion”. This sharing of bread and wine is based on Jesus’ instructions to his friends at their last meal together, and we believe it gives us a special chance to commune with the divine and connect as a community. All are welcome to receive Communion at the Lord’s table.

Finally, after the service we usually meet downstairs for a cup of coffee, refreshments, and friendly conversation. Please join us for coffee hour; introduce yourself and get to know everyone!
